First, congratulations on hitting your goal. Reading your blog brought back so many memories for me and reminded me how important it is to reflect and enjoy the moment. I am glad you have been able to do that. There is so much to be gained by taking the time to do that as the journey is really what set you up to be able to accomplish what you did. It also stokes the fire to do better the next time! Good luck as you start this next chapter of your running journey. I look forward to reading more about all of it! Cheers!!!
Thank you Jeff! I always look forward to your comments on these. Definitely nice to enjoy that race a little bit longer before the next journey begins!
I tried a trick on my last full and half marathon race that seemed to work for me to help me focus on a timed goal. Write the splits that you need to hit on race day on your arm in pen....10k, 1/2 marathon, ect.. as you know it can get foggy in the race and its an easy reminder (when things get tough) just to look at your arm and see what your next split is supposed to be, cant remember where I saw it but it helped me. good luck
Royce! Thank you so much for reading. I actually started doing something like this for last year's 26.2. I have a note card (that is taped over AND inside of a zliplock bag) that has the time I need to be at for every mile. This year I put together three on one card - PR, PR but a little faster, and sub-1:30 - Was great to be able to look at it at every mile.

Good stuff! I found myself getting strangely excited for your PR the more I read. Also, Moms. 🍻

Good read. Having a plan is the first step, but a plan without execution is just words on a page. GREAT job of putting action to the plan.
